FAQ and Policies
Please note-
We have a no missed class policy. This means we do not have make up classes. We encourage families to commit to our program as a way to instill a strong work ethic in their young player and reinforce our core value of persistence.
This policy allows for us to deliver the highest quality coaching week after week. We understand that vacations and other life commitments happen- but to accommodate our families year round we use a fixed schedule with no makeup classes. Thank you for understanding!
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should we choose Soccer Routes for our child?
Soccer Routes was founded on the tenants of growth mindset and technical skill development. The Soccer Routes difference is that we develop the player at their own rate instead of putting them into a cookie cutter system that doesn’t honor their personal progress. We believe in bringing out the best in each child, on and off the field. We coach children from 2 through 12 years of age. Our focus is on providing a developmentally appropriate environment for young players to learn the game of soccer. This means that we focus on teaching the technical, mental, and tactical aspects of the game in a way that is appropriate for young players. At Soccer Routes, we prioritize learning over winning. We believe that it is more important for players to learn how to play the game correctly and to develop a love for the sport, rather than to focus on the score of each game.

Do you play games or have a league?
YES! After years of our community asking for more, we have finally been able to open our own intramural league for our players. Ages 5 through 12. You must be enrolled in our weekend program to be eligible for the league.
Where are you located?
We have a private location in the heart of Studio City, CA for our program. This outdoor location is exclusive to our program and offers beautiful grass fields, clean restrooms, easy parking and lovely sidelines for the parents. For safety, the exact address is not shared until registration.
Will you allow my child to try a class?
We do not offer trial classes. Our program is developmental and we believe that a single lesson is not an accurate reflection of the long-term skills and education that your child will receive. Just like in real life, there will be ups and downs and moments of frustration as your child learns and grows. We believe that it is important to take a long-term perspective on soccer development, rather than focusing on a single lesson or experience. We are not just teaching children how to play soccer - we are helping them to learn and grow as people.
We understand that it can be difficult to commit to something without trying it first, but we want you to know that we are confident in the value of our program and the positive impact that it can have on your child's soccer development and overall well-being. Please be sure to review our policies before purchasing your package. All of policies can be found here- Soccer Routes Policies

We just started classes and my child wont participate. What do I do now?
This is a very common question especially from parents of our younger age groups. It’s easy to become frustrated when your child doesn’t immediately take to the sport. This is not uncommon, they are learning something entirely new! There are many variables that can affect their willingness to participate. It could be that they are feeling overwhelmed by the new environment or the demands of the sport. It could also be that they are experiencing self-doubt or insecurity about their abilities. These are all normal reactions that can occur in child development. Our staff is very familiar with this and will be there to help you along the way.
We encourage you to be patient and to trust the process. Consistency is key, and it is important to reassure your child that it is okay to take things at their own pace. Our coaches are trained for this. Try to remember that we are called Soccer Routes because development is a journey. Consistency and patience are the most important things in developing young players.
Keep coming back, don’t get discouraged. Our founder has created a ton of online content for parents that can be found on our instagram page to can help give you tips and tricks for managing expectations and making it a great experience for the whole family! Check it out here!
It’s Raining OR Triple Digit Temperature in LA… Do we have class?
We play rain or shine! Always assume “game on” unless you receive an email from our team. The decision to cancel is at the discretion of Soccer Routes and will be made 30 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled session based on conditions at the location of the session. Weather can vary greatly throughout the LA area, do not assume that the weather at your house is the same as at the field. In the rare event of cancellation, you will be contacted by us.
We believe that it is important for children to learn and play in a variety of weather conditions. There are several benefits to this approach. It helps children to develop a resilience and a "never give up" attitude that will serve them well both on and off the field. It also gives them the opportunity to learn how to adapt their play to different weather conditions, which is an important skill for any soccer player. Playing in all weather conditions helps children to build mental toughness and to develop a love for the game that is not dependent on perfect conditions. It also allows them to experience the full range of emotions that come with playing soccer, which is an important part of the overall development process.
Sometimes it can be challenging for parents to see their children playing in the rain or cold or heat, but we want you to know that we take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our players. Safety is always the highest priority for us, we evaluate every situation carefully and reserve the right to make individual decisions based on the information present. We may cancel classes in some time slots and not others. We strongly recommend that you follow our social media for the most “up to the minute” updates. You will receive an email from us if your class is cancelled.
Can we miss a class?
There are no credits given for missed classes. There are no make up classes available. Soccer Routes is a developmental program, we understand that life happens but we count on your attendance in order to develop. All of policies can be found here- Soccer Routes Policies
Can I attend varying classes if I can’t make my regular class?
No. Soccer Routes places you upon sign up where we believe is best to learn for your child to grow as a player. We do our best to help work with you upon the best day and time within this policy prior to registration. However, once you are committed, then it is the duty of the client to attend classes within the time slot assigned to you. Our classes sell out year round and are staffed to meet the correct legal and functional ratios of coaches to players. These are not drop in classes in any way. All of policies can be found here- Soccer Routes Policies
We understand families have varying schedules, so please make sure you can attend your designated time slot prior to this commitment.
What is the proper uniform for my child?
You will receive a Soccer Routes uniform shirt with your purchase. Uniforms will be distributed on your first day of class. This is the required uniform to be worn at every session! If you forget or would like to have a back up, we have extra Soccer Routes t-shirts available for $25.00, these donations benefit our scholarship fund. For safety reasons (and team spirit), we want every child to be easily identifiable as one of our players. During the colder months, please layer under your uniform so that it is still visible. Soccer Routes sweatshirts are available for purchase at the front desk. Proper athletic shorts are the recommendation this will allow your child ultimate mobility within their class. Also, cleats are highly encouraged for all children but not mandatory. Shin guards recommended for ages 5 and up and required for all Academy level classes (Sunday 9am).
My friend is in a certain class in your program, can my child be in that class too?
We understand that it can be important for children to be with their friends, but as a developmental program, our primary focus is on ensuring that each child is placed in the class that is most appropriate for their skill level and development needs. We do our best to honor these requests when possible but there are times when it isn’t in the best interest of the player. For the safety and benefit of your player and others in the class, we keep our developmental windows as tight as possible.
While it is certainly enjoyable for children to play with their friends, it is important to recognize that young players often have different levels of experience and ability when it comes to soccer. If a child is placed in a class with friends who are at a much different stage of their soccer development, it can be challenging for them to keep up with their peers and they may get discouraged.
At Soccer Routes, we take care to place each child in the class that is most suited to their needs. We believe that this is the best way to ensure that all of our players have the opportunity to learn and grow as soccer players. We hope that this perspective helps you to understand our approach and the importance of placing children in the correct soccer class for their development.
Can we bring food and do you provide the water during breaks?
Our company guidelines do not allow your child to eat any form of snack within the confines of the class. This is to protect your child from any choking situation. Snacks are to be had before or after a training session. When it comes to water, we ask that you bring an ample amount of water to last your child the duration of the session. There is a water bottle fill station available for your use. As they get older the curriculum begins to become more rigorous so more water will be needed. All of policies can be found here- Soccer Routes Policies
Can I add another parent/grandparent/guardian to the system to receive emails?
Unfortunately no, at this time we are only able to have one primary point of contact in our system per child. If you are enrolling multiple children you can use multiple email addresses. If you would like to change your designated point of contact, please email info@soccerroutes.com.
